Basic British Sugar Biscuits (Cookies)
Ingredients
Makes: 4 dozen
- 225g butter, softened (16 Tbs or 1 Cup or 2 Sticks)
- 200g sugar (1 cup)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 340g self raising flour (2-3/4 cups)
Method
Prep:15min › Cook:10min › Ready in:25min
Preheat oven to 190 C / Gas 5. (375F)
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually mix in the flour. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased baking trays.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on tray two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.
