The Dragon Boat Festival, "Duan Wu" Festival or "Duen Ng" Festival is a traditional Chinese festival annually held on the Double Fifth Day (fifth day of the fifth month) of the Chinese calendar (corresponding to late May/June on the modern Gregorian calendar). One of the grandest festive events in China, the occasion is celebrated in many other parts of East Asia as well as in some parts of the West. Typically celebrated with activities such as dragon boat races and the eating of Zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), this is an occasion that sees exuberant festivities wherever it is observed.
