APPLE CRISP 

1C FLOUR
3/4 C ROLLED OATS
1 C PACKED BROWN SUGAR
1 TSP CINNAMON

1/2 C BUTTER SOFTENED (I USED BUTTER CRISCO)
4 C CHOPPED PEELED APPLES
1 C SUGAR
2 TBS CORN STARCH
1 C WATER
1 TSP VANILLA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In  mixing bowl, combine first four ingredients.  Cut in butter until crumbly.  Press 1/2 into greased 9 inch square baking pan.  Cover with apples.  In a sauce pan combine sugar, corn starch, water, and vanilla.  Cook and stir until thick and clear.  Pour over apples.  Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture  Bake 350 degrees for 1 hour or wuntil apples are tender,  (double reicpe for regualr size cake pan)

I made this the other day ~ it is really good tasting ~ when boiling ingredients, it never comes to a "clear" but cook it until until very thick (maybe a medium hard ball stage)
