What comes to mind when you think about growing up in your home town?

It seemed so safe there. All my family members lived there. There was always something fun to do there.

We use to be able to run through town barefoot and never have to worry about stepping on glass.  The college was small and not really noticed in regards to population and people were always friendly and pleasant.  We could go swimming at the local beach and have fun. WE had 2 butcher shops and 4 or 5 grocery stores. None of that exists anymore.  Beach is closed and college is so big that the city caters to them not the residents of Whitewater. We don't even have a grocery store, only a Walmart (that ran out Pamida).  They built a Dollar General on east side of town, a Dollar Store is being built on the west side and they are building an Aldi's right next to Walmart.  The good old days are gone
